At school, short hair is better because, first of all, it’s fresher, and secondly, you don’ have to do a pig-tail, a pony-tail or make a bun.  Long hair is worse at school because it’s too hot and you have to do a pony tail or make a bun.

We think that short hair is better because when you go to the hairdresser’s to die your hair, to brush it, to straight it out or to cut it, it costs less than if you have long hair When you have long hair you have to pay more and it takes you longer.

Short hair is much more comfortable because it’s fresher at the summer, and if you have to brush it, to straight it out or to dry your hair it’s easier and you don’t spend too much time. Long hair isn’t as comfortable as short hair.
Short hair is cleaner because you won’t have lice and when you clean it, it won’t take a long time, and if you don’t clean it every day, it doesn’t seems as dirty as it is. Long hair it’s clean, but it’s easier to have louse.

Short hair is better if you’re a military because you don’t have to cut their hair. If you have long hair you have to cut it, and it’s worst. If you do sport is better short hair because long hair can put in your face and you can get it wrong.

When you’re studying, it’s better short hair because if you are studying and your hair puts in your face, you distract.

If you have short hair is better because if you do a treatment you don ‘t have to pay.

There are so many good things for long hair, but there are better things for short hair, so we can say that short hair is better than long hair.

Long hair have some advantages, for example, that if you have a party or an important meeting, you can do a hair-do that will impress people. Long hair is better too if you have a festival or something like that and you have to do a pony tail, because if you have short hair and you have to do a  pony tail, it’s harder.

Money

For many years money has been something that brings conflict, whether it’s owing money, stealing money, needing money  ...  And in our society, nowadays most people prefer not to talk about how much of it they have as this can be very humiliating. One of the main reasons why having too much money is a bad thing is because it can affect friendships majorly:

1.- FRIENDSHIPS. When someone has a lot of money people will take advantage of them very easily and the rich person will be buying the friendship. That means that people will make friends with him/her just because he has nice toys and buys him treats. This is really very sad. It can also happen with long-lasting friendships when one of the members suddenly earns a lot more than the other, therefore, they change their lifestyle, buy new (more expensive clothes), get together with richer people and the friends have less things in common, this could easily break friendships.

2.- HOPES & DREAMS. Another reason why too much money is bad is because when you have it you can buy whatever you want whenever you want and then you never have to wait for anything. This means, you never have dreams or hopes for anything because the minute you want something; you have it.

3.- JEALOUSY. When you have lot of money you make people jealous of you, this probably annoys them but, the main problem is, people will ask you for money when they know you have it. As that happens people will owe you money and it’s not very nice to ask for it from a friend, it makes you seem mean. This is just awkward and embarrassing.   

Friendships

STORY ONE

Sometimes having too much money breaks friendships, especially when jealousy and secrecy take place. For example, here is the case of Jessie, a very rich and spoiled, yet sweet little girl.

Jessie is a really sweet little girl, she has a lot to offer, she is a generous, caring, loving and talented little girl. And she’s very out-going, you’d expect her to have lots of friends, right?  ...Well, it’s harder than you’d think, you see, Jessie has a lot of money, plenty to go ‘round, and that is exactly the problem. People take advantage of her and pretend to be her friend just so they’ll get money from her. This is really sad and ,especially, pathetic on the behalf of the person taking advantage. This is the case of Sally, she’s very popular and whenever Jessie comes ‘round in the playground to play Sally appears to be very comforting, but the strange thing is; they always end up talking about having a sleepover party at Jessie’s house, or going on a ride in Jessie’s limousine,... This doesn’t bother Jessie, she’s very generous, but she’s beginning to get the idea that all they want is her money, this makes Jessie very sad. It’s not her fault that she has a lot of money, nevertheless, she has to pay the consequences.  That’s the reason why having too much money is a bad thing, because people only try to make friends with you for their own benefit.

STORY TWO

Here is another case of a rich little boy, Luke, he has a lot a lot of money, everyone knows that, but no one ever said anything about it until he started being incredibly rude.

For the past two weeks, Luke has been very mean to his classmates , he spends the playground talking about all his new toys, his butler and all his posh tea parties. Daisy, the sweetest little girl is having some trouble lately, her parents have gotten divorced and she’s living with her dad now. His business is having some trouble with money and sometimes she just can’t afford for the same things as the rest, while most children are eating nice expensive chocolate biscuits, Daisy will just have to settle for toast, instead of having a big birthday party, she’ll just go out for pizza with her dad. This doesn’t bother Daisy, what does, is Luke. Luke has been unbelievably mean to Daisy about money, he’s been bullying her and picking on her, and she’s just had enough. Now everyone knows what kind of a person Luke is, they’re not even jealous of him anymore, they just see him as an awful, awful person. They’re ad because he’s upset, they pity him. And now everyone has a dreadful image of rich people, they think every rich person is bad.

Hopes & dreams

STORY ONE

Sometimes having too much money can be a problem in the sense that the moment you want something you have it, this is Lily’s case.

Lily is a little girl with a BIG problem, her problem is she’s so used to getting everything she wants from the moment she first wants it, she never ever hopes for anything or has any dreams because all of them have already come true, or are about to. For instance, the other day, in class everyone was talking about saving up for a yacht, so, when they’re grown up, they can sail in the port and have private parties. Lily mentioned this to her dad once and the next day her dad took her to the port and showed her their brand-new yacht. At school, she told everyone that she had a yacht now, they were both impressed and jealous. But after a while Lily realised it wasn’t just the yacht that all her classmates wanted, but the dream of having one of their own one day. This made Lily very sad because for once in her life her friends had something she could never get; hopes and dreams.  

STORY TWO

Peter is a friendly, generous, fun boy. At school everyone likes him, he’s quite popular, actually. One day Leslie came to school with some shocking news, her mother had been fired from her job. Everyone was very sympathetic and they were helping her get through the day, but, surprisingly enough, Leslie wasn’t that sad, she said it was a great opportunity to spend lots more time with her parents. That made her very happy, everyone understood too, everyone except Peter. That day when Peter got home he talked to his dad, he said he wanted to spend more time with him and he wrote a list of things he wanted to do with his dad that year. His dad apologised and said that wouldn’t be possible because the timetable at his job was too long and he couldn’t change it. (After all, that was the reason he had so much money)Peter was devastated, he didn’t even care for money anymore, he just wanted the chance to be with his dad, he felt awful, Peter thought his dad cherished money more than him.

Jealousy

STORY ONE

Phoebe is always talking about her lifestyle, what she eats, where she goes on holiday, what she buys, etc. She doesn’t do it for any particular reason, not to upset anyone, it’s just the way she behaves, she’s an extrovert. People usually listen to what she says gladly. One day, Phoebe was talking with her friends and Katie listened that Phoebe had a lot of money and Katie got jealous. In fact, Katie got so jealous that Katie and Phoebe didn’t talk in a long time. Katie took a photo of them both and ripped it in half, then they never ever reconciled. . This wasn´t really Phoebe’s fault, is it? But sometimes people get jealous, and sometimes friendships break because of it.

STORY TWO

 Jason has a girlfriend: Sophie, Sophie is a good girl, a couple of months ago, Sophie realized that Jason has a lot of money.  Since she knows that she is really sweet to him, he doesn’t realize so he is happy. Sophie discreetly asks to borrow some money from Jason to spend it on make-up and other things. Sophie was so used to borrowing Jason’s money, she stole his credit card and went to buy expensive dresses at a shop and spent 3,000 pounds. When Jason found out he was really disappointed in Sophie so they broke up and he told her she had to give back all the money.

Consequences

When money falls into unsafe hands, goes into bad use or is invested stupidly there are consequences. Consequences like if you owe money for a long time and don’t pay your dept. or if you’ve borrowed money from someone and invested it badly and then can’t pay it back. All these things are very common in real life although we should be trying to avoid them because when they happen they are hard to get out of. Money is something to be wise about and not just spend it on nice things.

STORY ONE

William used to be a successful businessman, he was intelligent, he sold useful products and he had a degree in Merchandising and another one in Public Relations. His business was going well and he didn’t ever need to worry about paying his bills on time or owing anyone money. One September, when things were getting worse (in the economy) his business started up kind of rough, but William invested well and made good choices so he was still okay. About two months later his friend Howard asked to borrow 25,000 pounds from William, William thought it through very profoundly and at first was sure he couldn’t lend his friend that much money, but in the end, he knew he’d have to make quite a few sacrifices but, it was his friend after all so he decided to lend it to him. Howard was very happy and he promised he would give it back in three months, William believed him and so they sealed the deal. Three months later William’s business was still not going very well, when Howard returned he announced that he wouldn’t be able to pay him back yet because he hadn’t invested wisely. This made William very insecure, he would have to be living on the edge, but he did it for a friend.

For that reason going into business with your friends or family is never a good idea, this is precisely William’s problem.

Conclusion

Our group has come to the conclusion that too much money is most definitely a bad thing. And especially if everybody knows that you have it, not only because people will get jealous of you but also because they will ask you for money.  In all these cases (Friendships, Jealousy…) money has affected someone, and not just for benefit, but as a person. What would you appreciate more, to spend time with your mum and dad or money?? What would you prefer, a brand-new yacht or love and support from your friends and family? In the table we have done ,obviously, there are many more cons than pros when it comes to too much money. At least we are certain that this is true and with this project we help to spread this idea around, at least that’s our intention.

Jose’s personal opinion

I liked this project because with it I could understand that money isn’t the most important thing in the world and that too much money affects you in many ways. Now I understand that values are more important than money. And that a lot of rich people have problems with money.

Carlos’ personal opinion

This project taught me that things like stealing money are very bad and dangerous and that we shouldn’t do them because if we do there are consequences. Money is a serious thing, so we shouldn’t play with money.

Emma’s opinion

I liked doing this project especially because it made me realize how easily people can be manipulated by money. Whether it’s doing things that are wrong so they earn money, stealing money… And ,most importantly, how much someone can be influenced by it in their life. For instance, having hopes and dreams is something very important because it gives you the joy to keep living. Because, if you have nothing to live for ,then, why live? Also, in friendships, no matter how much money you have if you have no friends than you’ll never be happy. Because, at the end of the day, money doesn’t bring happiness, and too much money just brings problems.

My City

I live Barcelona city center it's a nice place to live but like any place it has it's inconveniences. In the part of the city were I live there are many theaters, museums, markets and cinemas. However it doesen't many good schools so my parents decided to send me to Sil. I often see drunk and homeless people and that's something I never see near to school but I still think there's no place like home.

Here, the weather is very warm, in summer it is very sunny and in winter it’s not so cold because the city is near the sea. As is near the sea, you can go the beach whenever you want, it’s great.

Here, in Barcelona, you can do lots and lots of things. Like going shopping, go to the cinema, to the theatre connect to the internet… It’s a very interesting city because here there are lots of museums. As well we have lots and lots of transports to go anywhere you want. And I enjoy a lot the city that I’m living.

My city Barcelona:
I live in Barcelona. Barcelona it's a big city, concretely is the capital city of Cataluña. As a capital city it has a lot of tourists of all around the world. It has a lot of shopping centers and places to buy clothes, it has a lots of streets with bests trade marks… It also has a lot of museums; the arts ones, the history museums too, the Gaudi houses museums…
One of the things that make Barcelona so well knew is the Gaudi's architecture… All days he's houses or parks are full of tourists and sometimes the citizens of BCN go to visit them.
It also has a big and long beach, and at the end of the beach there is a very tall and big hotel. This hotel is also very well know, and it has structure of a sail.
I like to live in Barcelona because you always have something new or different to do. And doesn't matter you being living in here all you'r live you always discover something now every time you go walking in Barcelona… As is a big city, the shopping centers or the shops streets are always with new and interesting things.
Another thing that I like a lot of BCN is that you can go walking almost everywhere… And if there is somewhere far away you can take public transportation.

My country's habitat

I live in a big city in Spain. It is usually hot in spring and summer but in winter it's very cold. It doesn't usually snow and it rains in autum and spring but not a lot. It has a Mediterranean weather.

There are a lots of buildings and a lot of cars, there is also a mountain called Collserola that is the highest place in the city. 

On top of Collserola mountain there is a very beautiful church. You can go at the top of it where you can see great views of my city. You can also see the sea!

If you decide to go to the beach you will find a very big beach called Barceloneta, and a hotel that have the shape of a sail: the W hotel. 

If you like culture you have a lot of museums, theatres, opera theatres and exhibitions. You will never be bored in my city!

There is also another church that was built by Antoni Gaudí: the Sagrada Familia that has amazing shapes. I'm sure you have never see something like this before.

I honestly recomend you to visit my city, I promise you'll enjoy !

My vacation's city

I go always to Madrid when we have vacation, in summer in winter and sometimes whe the second term finishes. In winter is very cold and sometimes snows, and in summer is very hot but we have a swimming pool in front of the house so we pass almost all the afternoons swimming.
There are forests in the low and high part of the city. There are a lot of squirrels and birds in the trees.
This city hasn't beach but has mountains and in the mountains there are a lot of streams, and rivers where you can swim.
There are a lot of parks you could play, you can cool because they are sources and you can play because there are fields of football. In Madrid are a lot of courts of tennis and paddel.
I recommend it's a very good city to live or to go for vacations.

I live in a small countrie, close to the beach.There is next to Africa but it is in spain.There are the most days sunny. The beaches have a very smooth and white sand.There are very bigs dunes that the sand comes from Africa. The sea is clean and transparent because there aren't many turist because is an unknown place.About this there are many fishes and I go diveingand I saw fishes of many colours and measures.In the sea are big waves and I can go surfing.These is my country habitat.

My city's habitat

I live in a very big city called Barcelona, in Spain. The weather is so good, in winter we're not that cold and in summer the temperature is quiet warm. Most of the time is cloudy, but sunny too. It doesn't snow in here every winter.
We have a few mountains with green forests and a theme park, and in the other side of the city we have a beautiful beach in the Mediterranean sea. The most popular animal in here is the pigeon. It's so famous, but I think it's horrible!
Here I can do lots of things. I'm so happy to live in a big city, I love it! I can go shopping, to the cinema, to the beach, to the mountain, to the park... Oh, I like so much living in Barcelona!

A description of a place - Unit 8

I live on the coast of a great big island. 
 Luckily, it's quite mild all year round but really warm in the  spring and the summer. 
But one of the best things about it is I can get the best of both worlds over here, I can get the luxury of the city and the lights and the wonderful nature of Australia. Some days I can go shopping in the mall of Sydney and other days I can enjoy the beach or the hills. That's why it's so special to me. 
The beaches are great for surfers and tourists or just for chilling out, also, Australia is famous for kangaroos and koala bears. Kangaroos are a unique feature in Australia, the outback of Australia (deserts) is the warmest part. Lots of surfers from all around the globe come to Australia for its fabulous beaches and its giant waves.

Australia is also a very touristy destination due to its many beautiful monuments and other touristy attractions so you’ll find the streets full of tourists. Obviously, the people are very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, it is a country that is far away from the rest of the world so it’s really expensive to travel to other places such as Europe and America.

But very honestly it is a great place to live and I couldn’t ask for more.

My country's habitat

I live in a small private island called Lovely. It’s in the Mediterranean Sea, near Ibiza. It’s lovely, and a lot of people come here to do parties and that things.

Most of the year it’s sunny, but obviously, it snows at winter. At winter we arrive to -12 ºC! Luckily, it only snows at winter. At summer it’s so hot, unfortunately, because sometimes we have to stay at house with the air conditioner. But only sometimes, fortunately.

At the centre of the island, there is a big forest, and when it snows is so beautiful.  At the forest there are some firs and some pines. A long time ago, there was a big lake with a lot of sharks, but obviously, I took them off.

The Mediterranean Sea surrounds the island. We have beautiful beaches, with palms and white sand. There isn’t a lot of people, so it’s so relaxing being at here.

Honestly, I don’t mind being here instead of being at a big city, because I hate being stressed, and here you have a lot of thing to do that I think that are better than the thing you can do at the big city!

Uniform...is it good or bad?

Some people say it’s good to wear uniform, and some people say they won’t wear a uniform in their life.

In my opinion, wearing uniform is a good way to learn that at the school you are not a cool person for having the best clothes. Another good thing that I think that the uniform have is that you don’t need to be every day in front of the wardrobe thinking what to wear that day and nobody is going to discriminate you for the clothes you wear.

Some people say that wearing uniform is a bad idea because for the weekend you have to buy not uniform clothes, and if you don’t wear uniform, you can put the clothes from every day.

Another group of people say that the uniform is too expensive, but I think that if we evaluate the good and the bad things, you’ll see that the uniform it isn’t a bad idea.

In fact, I have worn uniform all my life, so I don’t mind wearing it or not, but I think it’s a good idea to wear uniform like in our school.

A lifestyle description

Dear Amanda,
Hello, I'm Mar and I'm 12 years old. I live in Vallcarca, near the city of Barcelona. My house is quite near to the mountain. I live there with my parents and my sister, Alba.
I love my house, it's a duplex, and it's quite big.
In the first flat, there's the kitchen, the toilet, a room to study, with a computer and shelves with a lot of books. There's also the dinning room, a really big living room, with a big thin TV, two sofas, a stereo to listen to music... And in the living room, there's also a snail stair to go down.
Then, in the second flat, there's a piano, three rooms and a toilet.
When I was younger, I wanted to share room with my sister, but now if I shared room with her, I would be crazy! She doesn't tidy the room, but if she did some tidying, the room would be nice and bigger.
Well, my room, isn't as big like Alba's one, but for me it's enough. There's a big table to do homework, a big bed and a really, really big wardrobe with mirrors. The thing I like most, is my computer.
I love reading, listening to music, spending time with my family and with my friends and also playing the piano.
I haven't read Harry Potter for the moment, but my sister has, so I have all the books at home. Thankyou so much for writing me.

Hello , I’m Matias friend. My name’s Alvaro and I’m 12 years old . I live in Spain , Catalonia . Our house is near to Tibidabo’s park . Where is your house ? I live with my parents and my sister , Berta . I don’t like being outside , I prefer staying at home . I love playing games . I have a new dog called willow . Have you got any pet ?

Our house is particularly big, so I have a very big bedroom and a big room games . Matias always do the bed . Matias always do the bed , and sometimes my bed . He spend a lot of time playing on the psp3 , It have a very really big garden of flowers and a little football pitch . All the nights he saw a film of action , he love that .

It’s really optional that on Saturday and Sunday we go to a excursion . It’s extremely far !
